November 23, 2011: The Kansas Barbed Wire Museum lost another member of our family this week, barely one week after the loss of Lee Shank. Raymond Georg passed away on Tuesday after a period of declining health. Raymond was a well-respected farmer in Rush County and remained active in the community and on his farm until the last few months of his life. Raymond had worked for the museum for about three years and seemed a natural for the job. His love for the land was evident as he talked with museum visitors about his first-hand experiences on the farm. He will truly be missed.
Raymond P. Georg, 92, La Crosse, died Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011, at Rush County Nursing Home, La Crosse. He was born July 12, 1919, in rural Alexander to Peter and Katherine (Fritzler) Georg. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Survivors include two sons, Ken Paul Georg, Sabetha, and Jay Glenn Georg, Rush Center; a daughter, Latha Jean Schlup, Newton; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church, La Crosse; burial in La Crosse City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse, and from 9:30 to 10:20 a.m. Friday at the church. Memorials are suggested to First Lutheran Church, La Crosse.
