Dedication of The Nekoma Bank Museum
Dedication Ceremony
Friday May 4, 2007, 5:30 p.m. - 202 W. 1st Street, LaCrosse, Kansas
The Rush County Historical Society would like to thank everyone who contributed to this project. In addition to those who contributed financially, over 70 individuals volunteered their time and talents to bring the project to completion.
The weather on dedication day was excellent as over 200 people assembled at the steps of the new museum to catch their first glimpse of the newly restored bank. Dozens of area youth had an opportunity to “make a deposit” and experience first hand the workings of an early 20th century bank. Individuals who made deposits, which became donations to the Historical Society, had the opportunity to watch the process of handling the transaction all on paper and recording in ledger books in the manner used before the days of the computer.
